A brief wondrous moment with Junot Diaz (where we gripe about our iPhones)
What’s that up there? Why, that’s just my autographed copy of ‘A Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao,’ signed at a reading at Agnes Scott College in Decatur.
Diaz even put in the little exclamation point after my name — just like the way I sign my e-mails!!
And what’s this?
Oh that’s just me and him mugging for a photo — right before we launched into a short gripe session about the iPhone.
He has one. It’s a great product but the worst phone to make calls with, he said.
I told him one can’t ever say that to those crazy Apple-addicts without incurring their full wrath.
I know, he replied. They’re like a cult!
And yet, I love my iPhone so, I said.
You can’t let go, he agreed. It’s like an abusive relationship!
We bonded.

The Mentalists play Kids by MGMT on their iPhones and iPod Touches, using only apps downloaded from the Apple App Store. Apps used Ocarina, Retro Synth, miniSynth, DigiDrummer Lite.
