A 5-year-old’s wishful thinking
Everyone, it seems, wants to go to the inauguration.
Daughter stayed up watching Obama’s victory speech on November 4. The next morning, she drew this picture.
It apparently shows her with the president-elect and is captioned “I Met(e) the Prezidem”
Sure, she spelled ‘met’ incorrectly but I think ‘Prezidem’ ought to be a word when a Democrat’s in charge
UPDATE:As my friend KC points out about the use of the word ‘Mete’: “Maybe she titled her piece in the present tense — I meet the prezidem — which I also agree is a fantastic word and must be put immediately into the dictionary.”
Colorado prefers Bacon over Fries
As voters nationwide were choosing Barack Obama as the next U.S. president, people north of Denver, Colorado, were weighing a contest involving two other candidates with uncommon names.
Incumbent Bob Bacon squared off against challenger Matt Fries for a seat in the Colorado Senate.
Some media outlets found it difficult to resist the inevitable wordplay when reporting on the race, which Bacon won.
“It sounded more like a choice between side dishes at a diner,” began one report.
“Bacon cooks up win in return bid to Senate,” said another headline.
For accuracy’s sake, it should be pointed out that Fries pronounces his name ‘Freeze.’
Alas, that doesn’t help with the puns either.
Bacon withstands freeze?
Man with Obama haircut busted on way to election party

Police busted Ryan Blackwell, 18, on the campus of Austin Peay State University, where he went to meet friends for a campaign party. Blackwell said he was nabbed by Clarksville, Tenn., cops for blasting a Lil Wayne remix from the stereo in his 2002 Suzuki (he was participating in an impromptu street celebration after television networks projected Obama’s presidential victory). Blackwell was booked into the Montgomery County lockup on the misdemeanor charge and missed Obama’s acceptance speech.

Hyper local coverage?
While Barack Obama’s victory in Tuesday’s presidential election was the lead story in newspapers worldwide, one of our dailies — The Rockdale Citizen — relegated coverage of the Democrat’s historic win beneath stories about a Rottweiler attack and the local sheriff’s successful reelection bid.
You gotta love Georgia.
Here are six other newspapers nationwide that also buried the story. Here »

Drunk robocall
I love the Internet. There I was sitting and wondering how cool it would be if someone got a drunk robocall. A quick Google search later, I land on this gem.
Technically it’s a phone-bank volunteer for the Obama campaign, and not a robocall. But must we quibble?
I love the part where he says, “I mean…uh..we can go all day with the issues but…” he just wants to get Obama in the White House.
